Transdermal delivery of therapeutic agents has been used successfully for several decades. However, there have been challenges in expanding use of the technology to the delivery of peptides, proteins, small molecules and vaccines. These drugs cannot permeate the skin's outer stratum cornium layer at levels or rates that achieve significant therapeutic effect.

Zosano’s Macroflux (R) transdermal microprojection delivery system provides unique benefits including convenient needle-free administration with room temperature stability for various peptides, proteins, small molecules, and vaccines.
Zosano’s Macroflux® Technology:
Zosano’s delivery system is the Macroflux technology, which incorporates a thin titanium screen with precision microprojections that, when applied to the skin, creates superficial pathways through the skin's dead barrier layer allowing transport of macromolecules. The Macroflux technology provides dry-coating of the drug on a microprojection array for bolus delivery into the skin. In addition, the creation of these pathways allows for better control of drug distribution throughout the skin patch treatment area and reduction in potential skin irritation.

Reproducible Dosing:
Zosano can provide reproducible drug delivery.
Skin Tolerability: Preclinical and clinical testing has shown acceptable skin tolerability with Zosano's transdermal system.
Zosano's PTH
Zosano Pharma’s lead program, a PTH patch, is in Phase 2 development for osteoporosis scheduled for completion mid to late 2008. Zosano is pursuing a regulatory process which leverages existing PTH safety and efficacy data. Zosano's PTH will be an important contributor to anabolic treatment or bone building options in the large global osteoporosis market, giving physicians a convenient and stable product for older women and men who currently are using daily injections.

Zosano's Future Products
Zosano’s transdermal system has been clinically tested in over 300 patients with four different peptides and a vaccine. In addition to product convenience and stability benefits, the system provides rapid and efficient drug delivery beyond existing injectable products.

Zosano’s transdermal microprojection delivery system provides unique benefits including convenient needle-free administration with room temperature stability. Zosano's PTH program is in Phase 2 for treating osteoporosis. Future programs with other peptides, proteins, small molecules, or vaccines will further establish the benefits of this innovative system.
